BioBusiness Inspector
For BioBusiness
Flash bootloader and captive-portal authentication for the firmware-update path of BioBusiness's Inspector — an MRI-monitoring product deployed for GE at hospital sites.
Context
Inspector is BioBusiness’s real-time monitoring product, built on an ARM Cortex-M target and written in C. At the time of Embedded Crew’s engagement, GE was BioBusiness’s known customer — using Inspector to monitor MRI machines installed at hospital sites. The product receives firmware updates remotely over Ethernet.
Scope
Embedded Crew delivered two pieces of the firmware-update path:
- The flash bootloader on the Cortex-M target, responsible for receiving and applying firmware updates delivered over Ethernet.
- A captive portal on the device, providing the authenticated interface through which update payloads were accepted.
Integration of the updated firmware with BioBusiness’s monitoring software was carried out by BioBusiness’s own team.
Result
Inspector remains in production. BioBusiness continues to maintain and sell the product today, and the firmware-update path delivered by Embedded Crew remains part of it.
